The Constraint Consensus Method for Finding Approximately Feasible Points in Nonlinear Programs

نویسنده

چکیده

T paper develops a method for moving quickly and cheaply from an arbitrary initial point at an extreme distance from the feasible region to a point that is relatively near the feasible region of a nonlinearly constrained model. The method is a variant of a projection algorithm that is shown to be robust, even in the presence of nonconvex constraints and infeasibility. Empirical results are presented.

Constraint Consensus Methods for Finding Interior Feasible Points in Second-Order Cones

Optimization problems with second-order cone constraints SOCs can be solved efficiently by interior point methods. In order for some of these methods to get started or to converge faster, it is important to have an initial feasible point or near-feasible point. In this paper, we study and apply Chinneck’sOriginal constraint consensus method andDBmax constraint consensus method to find near-feas...

Rigorous verification of feasibility

This paper considers the problem of finding and verifying feasible points for constraint satisfaction problems, including those with uncertain coefficients. The main part is devoted to the problem of finding a narrow box around an approximately feasible solution for which it can be rigorously and automatically proved that it contains a feasible solution. Some examples demonstrate difficulties w...

Constraint consensus concentration for identifying disjoint feasible regions in nonlinear programmes

It is usually not known in advance whether a nonlinear set of constraints has zero, one, or multiple feasible regions. Further, if one or more feasible regions exist, their locations are usually unknown. We propose a method for exploring the variable space quickly using Constraint Consensus to identify promising areas that may contain a feasible region. Multiple Constraint Consensus solution po...

The Quasi-Normal Direction (QND) Method: An Efficient Method for Finding the Pareto Frontier in Multi-Objective Optimization Problems

In managerial and economic applications, there appear problems in which the goal is to simultaneously optimize several criteria functions (CFs). However, since the CFs are in conflict with each other in such cases, there is not a feasible point available at which all CFs could be optimized simultaneously. Thus, in such cases, a set of points, referred to as 'non-dominate' points (NDPs), will be...

An effective method based on the angular constraint to detect Pareto points in bi-criteria optimization problems

The most important issue in multi-objective optimization problems is to determine the Pareto points along the Pareto frontier. If the optimization problem involves multiple conflicting objectives, the results obtained from the Pareto-optimality will have the trade-off solutions that shaping the Pareto frontier. Each of these solutions lies at the boundary of the Pareto frontier, such that the i...
